Any County News stands with Vienna. Any County News joins the agencies and neighbors across South Georgia who are standing with Vienna and Dooly County after the early-morning shooting at a block party on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026.
The GBI and Dooly County Sheriff Craig Peavy say two people were killed and 35 others were injured. GBI Director Chris Hosey said the GBI has activated six investigative work units and that investigators are conducting interviews.
Crisp Regional Hospital CEO Steven Gautney said in the hospital's statement on Facebook: “On behalf of our entire organization and medical staff, we extend our deepest, most heartfelt condolences to the victims, their families and everyone affected by this tragedy.”
In neighboring Crisp County, Sheriff Billy Hancock thanked the first responders who answered the call. “It is about protecting others, helping the wounded, and standing beside a community in its darkest moments,” Hancock wrote in a letter posted on Facebook.
Tips go to the GBI: 1-800-597-TIPS (8477). Tips can be anonymous, online at gbi.georgia.gov/submit-tips-online, or through the See Something, Send Something app, the GBI says.
