BARROW COUNTY, GA - Deputy Sanson forced open a burning chicken coop and carried out about 8 to 10 chickens while responding to a house fire, the Barrow County Sheriff's Office says.

The Barrow County Sheriff's Office says Deputy Sanson was responding to a residential fire when he learned a chicken coop and a nearby shed were on fire, with several chickens trapped inside.

According to the sheriff's office, he forced the coop door open, briefly went into the burning structure and came out with about eight to ten chickens. "Not all heroes wear capes, and sometimes the lives they save have feathers," the sheriff's office said.

The post said the office is proud of Deputy Sanson's quick thinking and compassion, and that protecting and serving extends to all members of the community, even the feathered ones. The sheriff's office did not say where in Barrow County the fire was, or what started it.
