Statesboro, Georgia — Breaking: Georgia Southern suspends 2 frats
Georgia Southern University has placed Phi Delta Theta and Sigma Nu on interim suspension of new-member activities while the Office of Student Conduct investigates information it received. Both are Interfraternity Council chapters on the Statesboro campus.
Per the university’s statement to local news: the interim suspensions should not be interpreted as a determination that either organization violated university policy. New members are prohibited from participating in any chapter activities or activities held by any other chapter. Once investigations are completed, a case recommendation will move through the resolution process.
Phi Delta Theta General Headquarters said it is aware of hazing allegations involving its Georgia Epsilon Chapter at Georgia Southern and is conducting its own investigation — those remain allegations only. Sigma Nu’s national response was not available in the reporting reviewed for this package. Georgia Southern has not publicly detailed the specific alleged conduct behind the interim actions.
