UPDATE: Murder-suspect pursuit ends after man fires from S.U.V. at Circle K in Ashburn
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says it is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Ashburn, Turner County, on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, at the request of the Turner County Sheriff's Office. One man was shot and injured. No deputies were injured.
According to the GBI, about 2:02 p.m. Saturday, Turner County received a statewide BOLO for a man identified as a suspect in a murder that occurred Friday in Henry County. A Flock camera hit placed his S.U.V. in Turner County.
About 2:15 p.m., a deputy saw the S.U.V. at the Circle K at 823 E. Washington Avenue in Ashburn, the GBI says. The man refused commands and drove away, and a pursuit began.
After a PIT maneuver, the S.U.V. crashed in the 900 block of South Main Street, according to the GBI. As officers approached, the man pointed a gun out the S.U.V. window and fired. Several officers then shot him, hitting him multiple times.
The GBI says the man remains in stable condition at a regional hospital. The GBI has not released his name.
GBI Special Agent in Charge Jerry Jones is leading the investigation. When it is complete, the case goes to the Tift Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office.
