Valdosta, Georgia — Traffic cams catch alleged roadside shooter
Just after midnight Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, Valdosta Police responded to the 200 block of East Park Avenue after 911 calls about gunshots. Spent shell casings were found; no injuries and no property damage were located at the scene, according to VPD via Fox 49.
What VPD said (via Fox 49 / agency narrative):
- Traffic cameras showed two vehicles driving quickly and recklessly — investigators believed one was chasing the other.
- Camera video allegedly showed the driver of the second car shooting toward the first.
- A nearby convenience-store check and security video identified a black GMC Terrain driven by Jabari Ahmod Jackson, 20.
- Officers later stopped the GMC on West Hill Avenue, confirmed Jackson was an occupant, took him into custody, and seized a firearm.
- The other vehicle was not located.
Charges (VPD / public Lowndes booking roster 2026-09-4301, booked Sept. 17): felony terroristic threats and acts; unauthorized discharge of firearms within 50 yards of a public highway; reckless conduct; reckless driving; failure to obey signs/control devices; carrying a weapon without a valid license (1st offense). Held at Lowndes County Jail.
Chief Leslie Manahan credited officers, citizen tips, and cameras for accountability and taking a gun off the street. An arrest is not a finding of guilt. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. No public adult mugshot was available at build time (roster placeholder only); no likeness invented.
