Vienna, Dooly County: GBI Names the Two Who Died in the Vienna Shooting

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has identified the two people who died in the block party shooting in Vienna, Dooly County, as Ja’Quavion Aderious Jackson, age 21, of Cordele, GA, and Macaleb Malik Jackson, age 23, of Hawkinsville, GA.

The GBI says the shooting left two people dead and 35 people injured. “The condition of the 35 injured victims range from stable to critical,” the GBI says in its updated release.

What happened: According to the GBI, Dooly County Sheriff’s Office deputies were on patrol at a neighborhood block party at about 1:25 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, when shots were fired from the 900 block of Pine Street in Vienna. Deputies found two people in the 600 block of Pine Street who were pronounced deceased at the scene.

GBI investigating: The Dooly County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to assist with the investigation. “This investigation is active and ongoing,” the GBI says.
