On Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, around 11:00 a.m., Valdosta Police responded to the 2800 block of Bemiss Road after an E911 call about a subject on the ground with a firearm and a finger stuck. Officers reported finding about 27.5 grams of suspected cocaine, packing materials, and currency. A firearm was later recovered from a vehicle in the lot. Michael Anthony Jenkins, 41, is identified as a convicted felon. EMS transported him to a hospital.

Around 8:15 p.m., Jenkins came to the Valdosta Police Department lobby asking a supervisor for his money back. He was arrested. A search found another small baggie of suspected cocaine and currency. He was booked into the Lowndes County Jail.

Listed felony charges: two counts possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Chief Leslie Manahan addressed the lobby return in the agency release. No public mugshot was located at package time, and none is invented.
